The English Work Standard

UPDATE: 8 / 3 / 2020

Finally decided to check my email (please keep emailing me, I love talking with you guys!") and am reuploading the links, I had them before on MediaFire but have decided to move over to Mega for easier access, I also found a quick synopsis from Barry circa 2007 ? around there but I feel their message carries across all of their projects, so I'm adding it below

I also added album art for "Elvis Killed Sinatra" , still no album art for "RIMSOBIGHOUSESOBIG"

"The English Work Standard is for kids who grew up riding skateboards and listening to fast and angry punk rock. The English Work Standard is for anyone who ever got called a "faggot" while walking through the halls in school. The English Work Standard is for people who picked a career based on not wanting to let anyone down. The English Work Standard is for us. The English Work Standard can never, ever be fucking stopped."

-Barry of TEWS

"The English Work Standard was a punk band from South Bay, CA, with Barry Johnson on vocals, Chad Kawashima on guitar, Matt Ebert on bass, and Omar Khattab on drums. Their first EP, RIMSSOBIGHOUSESOBIG, had Teague Smith on the drums, formerly of the band FTY. Their first LP, Elvis Killed Sinatra, featured the line-up previously mentioned. The band was on Fall of the West records, on which their LP was released."

Perfect for fans of early Joyce manor and their side projects

I had the time to briefly ask Mike Park (of Asian Man records and about 500 bands) about his experience working with Joyce Manor when they were still a new band and he told me (rough quote)

"Mike : I met Barry when he gave me a ride to a show (presumably somewhere in socal) and he played me something from his band I cant remember the name of.."

Me: Fever Kids?

Mike: No that wasn't it...

Me : Koalacaust?

Mike: No it was something different.. I really can't remember right now, it's been so long.

Me: Hm.. was It The English Work Standard?

Mike: That's It! How do you even know about that?"

Unfortunately no album art could be found on either of these releases besides a photo that was supposed to be associated with "Crickets", maybe they released it as a single; I don't know.

The tracklists also have typos but I'm leaving them as is for originality.

favorite track: She Breaths Fire (This song has a long gap of silence but has an acoustic bit sung by Barry that follows the silence.

The Start of Something

I've been collecting CD's, Vinyl, and Cassettes for years and have decided it's time to share some of what I've collected. The main purpose of this blog is to share music that is no longer for sale or music that people might know have existed any to make sure the music isn't lost to time.

I would love it if eventually people would share some of the music they've recorded when they were younger like a high school band or Demos that were never released on a label; the sound quality or genre DOES NOT MATTER , I live for bands that played a show or two and disbanded, I believe all music should be preserved.
